This is just a reminder that everyone is invited to a special beacon lighting event which will be held on Monday 4th June 2012 to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Forest Heath District Council are hosting the event at the nature reserve on Aspel Close (just opposite the nursery.) The programme will begin at 6.30pm with a performance from The Soham Comrades Band. Other activities taking place include face painting, a screening of the Queen’s coronation, a story teller and refreshments. The beacon will be lit at approximately 9.15pm followed by a band accompaniment and community singing. Art work from Busy Bees Children and Beck Row primary school children will be on public display. So take a blanket and come along to support this historic event happening on your doorstep.
We have also been asked to request the support of volunteers who would be willing to help on the evening. This could be with face painting, helping the public or car parking organisation. If you would like to help please ask to speak to Ms Harriet in the Ladybirds Class, who is liaising with Forest Heath Council.
